Guides for Vaderstad

Here you´ll find video guides for everything related to your Seed Hawk air seeder with iCon wireless control system.

Quick start video guides for Seed Hawk

Quick start videos (QSV) help you get your Väderstad Seed Hawk air seeder and iCon wireless control system up and running in no time. These instructional videos cover everything from how to connect your Seed Hawk to the tractor to tutorials on different settings.

Connecting to the Gateway

Watch this video to learn how to connect the Gateway to your Seed Hawk. The iPad uses a wireless connection to the Gateway. The Gateway has wired connections to all the components on the Air Cart and Toolbar. This allows the user to move freely around the machine without the use of wires. The Gateway is the brains of the system. It stores machine information and communicates with the iPad in the tractor cab. To log statistics together with the actual position, the Gateway is connected to a GPS receiver.

Starting a job

Watch this video to learn how to create a new job. Job profiles may contain information on Field Boundaries/Headlands, Prescription Mapping, and Lookahead timing.

Chaining and Combining Bins

Watch this video to learn how to change and combine bins on your Seed Hawk. The iCon Control System allows the user to control how product empties from the bins. This allows the user to empty certain bins first or have bins empty at the same rate to keep the Air Cart balanced during operation. The variations include Chaining and Combining.

Ending a job

Watch this video to learn how to end a job in your iCon operating system. When a field is complete, jobs must be formally ended so that job reports can be saved on the user’s Seed Hawk account through the Cloud.

Static calibrations

Watch this video to learn about static calibrations. Static calibration is a workflow that calculates the calibration number that should be used for a particular product and roller combination. Roller calibration numbers identify how much product is dispensed per revolution. Every roller and product type combination will result in a different calibration number.

Creating field boundaries

Watch this video to learn how to create field boundaries. Sectional Control® Technology is always looking for unseeded areas. A field boundary allows the machine to recognise the mapped seeding area. Without a field boundary, the openers and meters may unintentionally engage when travelling over the headlands, as it looks for unseeded areas. Setting a field boundary allows the control system to recognise the area contained within the boundary; therefore, no application of product or soil engagement is made if the user drives outside the boundary.

Creating and removing obstacles

Watch this video to learn how to create and remove obstacles. Obstacles are considered no-apply zones in the SCT system and can be toggled on and off depending on the user's preference. These zones are automatically identified based on when the implement intersects with newly seeded areas.

Product lookahead calibrations

Watch this video to learn about lookahead calibration, which allows the user to calibrate the lookaheads for a given tank. The user stands beside the toolbar and notes the amount of time it takes for the product to get from the tank to the openers.

Syncing to the cloud

Watch this video to learn about how to sync to the cloud. The Seed Hawk Cloud allows the user to sync between their Seed Hawk account and iPad. All job data is sent from the iPad to the Seed Hawk account. Prescription maps are sent from the Seed Hawk account to the iPad control system. The Cloud is a temporary data storage system that allows the user online access to resources, enabling them to quickly deposit information into an external database for review.

Changing wi-fi channels

Watch this video to learn how to change wifi channels on your Seed Hawk. The iPad uses a wireless connection to the Gateway via Wi-Fi. The Wi-Fi channel where the connection is established can be changed in the control application if needed. This may help mitigate connection issues in high-interference areas.

Bin transition threshold

Watch this video to learn about the bin transition threshold on your Seed Hawk. When bins are chained together, the iCon system uses a transition threshold value to determine when a given bin is empty, and metering should switch to the next bin in the chain. The iCon system will default to a transition threshold of 200 lbs.

Run until empty

Watch this video to learn how to enable the “Run Until Empty” feature. If enabled, tanks that are under the transition threshold will dispense product at the minimum rate until completely empty. The “Run Until Empty” feature is disabled by default. When disabled, tanks that are under the transition threshold will simply stop dispensing product.

Recording multiple boundaries

Watch this video to learn how to record multiple boundaries. Sectional Control® Technology is always looking for unseeded areas. A field boundary allows the machine to recognise the mapped seeding area. Without a field boundary, the openers and meters may unintentionally engage when travelling over the headlands, as it looks for unseeded areas. Setting a field boundary allows the control system to recognize the area contained within the boundary; therefore, no application of product or soil engagement is made if the user drives outside the boundary.

High flow noise calibration

Watch this video to learn about high flow noise calibration. The blockage monitoring system can be calibrated to compensate for outside noise that might affect its accuracy. Excessive noise from sources like an air cart fan can cause the blockage monitoring system, which uses sound data to determine blockages, to incorrectly identify a run as being clear when it is blocked. The High Flow Noise Calibration workflow addresses this by recording blockage data with the fans on to get a baseline for comparison.

Opener float function

Watch this video to learn about the opener float function that allows users to broadcast product while the opener sections remain in a lifted position.

Blockage layout

Watch this video to learn about blockage layout on your Seed Hawk. The Blockages screen displays blockage information for each opener/drop tube. This information is available in multiple different views (Manifold & Opener).

Purchasing SCTx subscription

Watch this video to learn how the purchase a SCTx subscription. SCTx is an optional feature available through a subscription plan, managed through the user's Seed Hawk account. This upgrade uses data from two GPS receivers to enhance performance when driving along a curved path.
